Introducing our new Echoes Series of split 7" vinyl-only releases. Weaving together generations of Newport Folk through a series of thematic records pairing some of our favorite vintage and contemporary performances.
In this first edition we pair Jack White performing the iconic "Death Letter Blues" at Newport Folk in 2014 with an equally exciting Son House performance of the same song at Newport Folk in 1965.
"In the post White Stripes years, it is quite rare for Jack to revisit Death Letter. I think this live version is a testament to the reverence that he holds for the Newport Folk Festival and the unrivaled importance the fest holds in the American musical firmament." — Ben Blackwell, Third Man Records
This 7" is cut at 45 rpm and pressed on premium clear red vinyl at Third Man Pressing in Detroit. Mastered for vinyl by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound in Nashville. Housed in a custom printed outer jacket with a separate inner sleeve. Strictly limited to 350 units available exclusively through Newport Folk. This release is only available on vinyl and will not be released on any digital streaming platforms. 100% of the proceeds support Newport Festivals Foundation music education and artist relief programs.
